What is Container Transportation?

While international transportation continues to improve day by day for the fast and reliable shipment of goods, when we evaluate from this perspective, the vehicles and equipment used in the transportation process have become more important with the transportation mode used. Before starting an operation, it is very important to choose the vehicle and equipment to which the goods will be transported in the operation together with the planning we make by considering some factors such as the nature of the load and the place of delivery.

Nowadays, the importance of door-to-door transport is increasing. However, it is only possible to transport goods from the origin to the destination with a single vehicle. At this point, in order to save time and money, it is necessary not to waste much time in the handling phase and therefore keep costs to a minimum. At this point, Container Transportation appears as a form of transportation that benefits us.
Increasing trade volume and diversification of goods movements in the world make it necessary to consolidate products. Sometimes, when cargoes subject to international trade cannot fill the entire container, cargo with different buyers can be transported in a container in partial. At this point, the Complete Container (FCL) and Partial Container (LCL) shipments appear.

If the load to be transported includes the whole container, we call it (Full Container Loading). In such FCL shipments, the owner may contract with the shipping agency or forwarder company for certain periods. Of course, in order to make a contract with the shipping agency, it is necessary to carry out annual regular and above a certain capacity. When FCL loads arrive at the port, the load owners can bring and unload the container to their own warehouse if they wish, or they can unload it to the warehouse of the logistics company they receive service from. Of course, in this case, since the container leaves the port area, a provisional acceptance commitment must be signed to the shipping agency or forwarder company.

In LCL shipments that cannot fill a container (Less Than Container Load); Loads with two or more buyers are consolidated and loaded into the container. When the container arrives at the port, it is opened under the control of the buyers' customs officers and the owners take their cargo. LCL loading; It takes place either at the port or from the warehouse of the logistics company, based on previously received information.

FCL/LCL: Load and import two or more loading loads into one container is one company.
LCL/FCL: A container loaded by an exporter also has two or more freight loads.
FCL/FCL: It is the case where the complete container load is an exporter and an importer.
LCL/LCL: It is the case where the partial cargo loaded in the container is an exporter and an importer.
